My womb is a holy machine,
crucial for society and the state.
My breasts are the source of life,
nourishing her and him,
despite the clogged ducts.
I am a first class container,
the best, the most natural, unique,
the purest bloom of paradise,
the magnificent break of the day, the miracle of reproduction, a promise of the nation’s prosperity.

Come. Fill me up gently.
Come with me.
Melt with me.

An interdisciplinary exploration of the (un)changeability of perspectives on motherhood.

Pia Brezavšček had a vaginal delivery of a breech baby. She considers this her greatest achievement. She has a minor uterine prolapse, but it’s been worth it. She is an almost ideal mother.

Barbara Krajnc Avdić had a C-section for her first child. At the time, she thought she was an almost ideal mother. Then she delivered another baby. By C-section too.

Saška Rakef was hospitalized with her newborn baby. She had lost her milk, but now, after one year, she is still breastfeeding. She thinks she is an inch away from being an ideal mother.
